Professional and Compassionate Psychotherapy

Hello, I’m Sabine, the therapist behind SJ-Therapy.

I believe that therapy is, first and foremost, about human connection. For me, counselling is a collaborative process, a conversation in which we work together, building a relationship based on trust, honesty and understanding.

Life can be complicated; we all face challenges, carry different experiences and do the best we can with the resources we have available to us. But there may be times when those resources no longer feel enough, when things become overwhelming, or when we simply need someone to listen and help us make sense of what is happening.

That's where counselling can help.

I believe therapy has the potential not only to change lives but, perhaps more importantly, to improve the way we experience them. Whether you are navigating difficult emotions, working through past experiences or trauma, struggling with relationships, or simply feeling that something in your life isn't quite right, you deserve the opportunity to explore what is going on for you.

Seeking counselling isn't a sign of weakness, nor is taking time for yourself selfish. I see it as an investment in your own wellbeing, an opportunity to understand yourself better, discover new perspectives and begin making changes that feel meaningful to you.

I also recognise that no two people are the same. Your experiences, feelings and circumstances are uniquely yours, and I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Finding a counsellor you feel comfortable with is an important part of the process, and I hope to offer a space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted, just as you are.I offer integrative psychotherapy that blends evidence-based approaches with personalised care, ensuring each client receives the most effective interventions for their unique needs. I am able to utilise a number of different therapy approaches like CBT, person-centred therapy and the psychodynamic approach, augmented by polyvagal theory, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis (TA) and Internal Family Systems. This enables me to provide a bespoke therapy according to clients’ needs.

I aim to offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental environment where you feel comfortable bringing whatever is on your mind. There is no expectation to have all the answers, to know exactly what you want to talk about, or to share anything before you feel ready.

We will work at a pace that feels right for you, exploring your thoughts, emotions and experiences with curiosity and understanding.

I am a BACP registered integrative counsellor, which means I draw upon different therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs, rather than expecting you to fit into one particular way of working.

My training includes person-centred, psychodynamic, transactional analysis and Gestalt approaches, and I work in a trauma-informed way. Where appropriate, I may also incorporate psychoeducation and creative therapeutic techniques to help us explore your experiences in ways that feel accessible and meaningful to you.

At the heart of my work is the relationship we build together.
